Spring Mission 2025

Team
Wednesday April 23, 2025
This is a shot of the API Churo team as we were leaving the Catholic mission Monday morning in Tengulbei where we had been staying for the past week. These men are the best!  Left to right, George Lokwawi, John Kamau, myself, Frank Maina, Paul Muchoki and Boniface Lokuruka. It was George and Boniface who paved the way four years ago for us to begin holding conferences in Churo. I didn't know it at the time, but I had sent these two Turkana men into the heartland of their traditional enemy, the Pokot. George and Boniface never wavered however, and began a peace initiative among the Pokot through the gospel that is ongoing. More on that later.
Church
We held the conference again at the African Inland Church in Churo with 101 pastors and church leaders, many of whom had attended our last conference. This year our Theme was Revealing Christ in the Old Testament and George, Boniface and I taught overviews of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy and Judges with an emphasis on Biblical Theology.

We enjoyed lunch each day either outside when the sun was shining or inside when the rains came.

Lunch

Ugali
The big white blob in the middle there is ugali, a maize flour concoction, without which a Kenyan meal is never complete. And it is always amazing to me how the ladies are able to prepare really good meals in makeshift kitchens.

We ended the conference with Boniface and George leading an extended time of prayer for peace and reconciliation between the Pokot and Turkana. Boniface has been appointed Peace Ambassador for this region by the government (an unpaid position) and he and George have been instrumental in bringing peace between the Turkana snd Pokot in many areas of the region. However there are challenges now between the Samburu and the Pokot where conflict has flared up recently in this area and Boniface and George have plans to bring peace and reconciliation between these tribes as well.
Prayer1
These pastors and church leaders were very much encouraged and blessed by this conference and are already planning for next year.  Thank you all for your support and prayers!
